About the Project
Our mission is to create a more modern and beautiful branding system for the Taipei Children’s Amusement Park. While improving the branding of the park, we want to create a new wayfinding system that would provide better user experience. Using the old “planet” theme from the park as our base and the circular shapes for a more children friendly image, we came up with three key elements for our rebranding: flat design, bright color palette, and rounded corner.
Influenced primarily by the Swiss style, flat design conveys a sense of modernity. Thus, we have decided to redesign the branding system and create the new wayfinding system in this style. Furthermore, to add senses of fun and vitality, we also used many flat illustrations in the guiding map.
Secondly, the use of bright color palette creates a better user experience for our new wayfinding system. With the usage, we not only were able to discard the messy and confusing old wayfinding system, but also create a systematic yet stimulating experience for our users. With the palette, our design illustrates a more energetic and interesting personality.
Finally, the vast usage of the rounded corner plays an important part in our design. Fitting to the planet theme, rounded corner not only presents an approachable image, but also makes it more family-friendly. Taking a further step more to add a sense of cuteness, we condensed the height ratio of the person icon to make it appear more childlike.
Taipei is on its way to becoming an international city. As designers, making our home more contemporary and beautiful has always been our dream. Even though our wayfinding system only changes a small part of this city, we believe it is a concrete proof that our dream is slowly coming true.
